Indian Law Institute (ILI) will conduct the Common Admission Test (CAT) 2018 for the candidates seeking admission in various law courses. The online applications for ILI CAT 2018 are invited from the candidates who want to pursue their career in Masters, Postgraduate Diploma and Ph.D. courses in law. The All India Admission Test will conduct for the candidates seeking admission in LL.M Course which will be a one year course. Interested and eligible candidates can apply through both offline and online modes. For online mode, the candidates have to fill the application form through the official website of Institute i.e. ili.ac.in. the candidates option the offline mode have to purchase the form from the counter of the Institute.

The candidates who will be willing to appear for the CAT 2018 will be selected on the basis of the various stages of the admission process which will be different for each of the courses offered by the Institute. Indian Law Institute (ILI) conducts the Common Admission Test (CAT) 2018 for the candidates seeking admission in various law courses. Eligibility Criteria for ILI CAT 2018

The Candidates who will apply for the admission to the concerned courses the candidate must ensure that he/she must be eligible for admission as per the norms of the conducting body. Interested candidates need to go through the following eligibility criteria:

Educational Qualification – The candidates must have the minimum required educational qualification to be eligible for the concerned courses. The qualifying examination for the concerned courses will be as given the image below:

Candidates belonging to the reserved categories will be the relaxation in the marks of the qualifying examination by :

  • 5% for SC/ST
  • 5% for PH Handicapped
  • 10% for Kashmiri Migrant Candidates

Physical Fitness – The candidates must be physically and mentally fit and in a good state and should not have any physical defect which can interfere with their outdoor studies.

ILI CAT 2018 Application Form

The application form for the concerned courses is made available online as well as offline to the candidates. The candidates who opt for offline mode have to purchase the form from the counter of the Institute by paying the required fee as form fee and submit the filled-in form with the required processing fee. For online mode, the candidates can fill the application form through the online official website of Institute i.e. ili.ac.in by entering the required information along with the payment towards the processing fee. The candidates are requested to complete the application process either online or offline before the last date for the submission of the application form.

ILI CAT 2018 Admit Card

The admit card will be issued to the candidates by the Institute few days before the examination. It will only be applicable for the Ph.D. and LL.M courses. The candidates with the successful applicant will only get the admit card. The admit card can be obtained through both online and offline modes. The candidates applied through offline mode will get the admit card through an email and those who applied through online mode will have to download the admit card through the official website of Institute. The candidates will have to carry the admit card on the day of the examination.

ILI CAT 2018 Exam Pattern

The exam pattern for the admission test of the Ph.D. and LL.M courses will be provided by the Institute. The candidates who will appear for the admission test will have to go through the prescribed exam pattern as given below:

For Ph.D. Course

The written test for the concerned course will be of two hours. It will consist of the two papers which will be held at the Indian Law Institute. After the admission test, the candidates will have to submit the presentation on the proposed topic on the date notified by the Institute.

For LL.M Course

The All India Admission Test for the concerned course will consist of the OBjective-type questions Research, Legal Reasoning and Comprehensions and Basic Knowledge in different branches of Law. The test will be of two and half hours and the medium of a test will be English. The distribution of marks to the admission test and the Viva Voce will be as follows:

Part 1 – This part will contain the 40 objective questions of 40 marks with multiple choices. The questions will be related to English Language and General Knowledge. Each correct answer will carry 1 mark whereas ¼ marks will be deducted for each wrong answer.

Part 2 – It will consist of 100 objective-type questions of 100 marks with multiple answer options. The questions will be asked from the Jurisprudence, Constitutional Law, IPC, Public International Law, Commercial Law (Contract and Specific Relief Act, Partnership and Sale of Goods Act), Law of Torts, Law of Limitation and Environmental Law. Each correct answer will carry 1 mark and each incorrect answer will carry ¼ marks.

Part 3 – It will contain 4 subjective-type questions of 40 marks. The answer should not exceed 250 words and it will be taken to test the legal writing skills of the candidates.

Part 4 – This part will be of Viva Voce which will be held for the shortlisted candidates of the admission test. It will be of 20 marks.

ILI CAT 2018 Result

The result will be declared for the candidates appeared in the examination. It will be uploaded on the online official website as well as on the notice board of the Indian Law Institute. The merit lists will be prepared contained the list of the qualified candidates with their marks and rank scored in the examination. The final selection will be based on the consolidated marks and overall rank obtained by the candidates in all the stages of the selection process. Candidates admission to the applied course will be based on the marks obtained by them and as per the seats available for the concerned courses in the Institute.

Admission Procedure for ILI CAT 2018

The candidates who will be likely to get admission in any of the concerned courses will have to go through the various stages of the admission procedure as given below:

For Ph.D. Course in law

There will be a written test for the candidates who will for the concerned course. The candidates who will be shortlisted after the written test will be called for the further stages of Presentation of Research Proposal and Interview. The candidates belonging to the exempted category will be shortlisted on the basis of the Research plan submitted by them along with the application form.

Note – The qualified candidates of UGC NET/ JRF, SLET, and M. Phil will not have to appear for the admission test.

For LL.M Course – One Year Course

The candidates who will apply for the concerned course will have to appear for the All India Admission Test. The qualified candidates of admission test will be called for the further stages such as:

Viva-Voice

Candidates will be shortlisted based on the marks obtained by them in the All India Admission Test and shall be called for viva-voce to be conducted at the Indian Law Institute, New Delhi. The list will be notified on the website of the Institute. No separate communication would be sent.

Final merit list will be prepared based on the marks obtained by the candidates in All India Admission Test, and viva-voce out of the maximum of 200 marks. Merit list will be drawn for LL.M. (01 Yr.) Programme. Viva-voce is an integral part of the selection process. If a candidate called for viva-voce does not appear for the same, he/she will not be considered as eligible for admission.

For Postgraduate Diploma Courses

The candidates will get admission to the concerned course will be made on merit prepared on basis of the marks obtained by them in the qualifying examination. The law graduates will be given the 5% weightage.
