Himachal Pradesh National Law University Entrance Test i.e HPNLET 2019 is a National level Exam expected to he will be held tentatively in the 3rd week of May 2019. The Himachal Pradesh National Law University (HPNLU), Shimla conducts this exam. Students who want to take admissions in either of the undergraduate law courses such as BA LLB, BBA LLB, Postgraduate LLM courses and also the Ph.D. courses can appear for this exam. HPNLET 2019 will be an offline (Pen and Paper ) based exam conducted in 17 test centers across the nation. Make sure that you fill and submit the application form before the 3rd week of April 2019. HPNLET 2019

Students are informed that last year, about 69 seats were available for the undergraduate courses such as BA LLB and BBA LLB whereas 23 seats were available for the postgraduate LLM courses. HPNLET 2019 Eligibility Criteria

Before applying for the HPNLET 2019 exam, make sure that you know the eligibility criteria for various courses available. This information on the eligibility criteria is according to the official details available on the HPNLET website. Students can check for the same from below.

Undergraduate BA LLB and BBA LLB courses

  • To be eligible for this course the students need to have completed 10+2 Level of education.
  • Students belonging to the unreserved category, OBC, specially abled person, NRI category need to have at least 50% marks in order to be eligible for the above course.
  • The students who belong to the SC/ ST categories should have at least 45% marks in the qualifying examinations

Age Limit for UG Programmes

  • Unreserved/ NRI or the sponsored NRI students – 20 years
  • SC/ST/OBC/SAP – 22 years

Postgraduate LLM Courses

  • Students must have obtained the 3 years or 5 year LLB degree from a registered institute
  • Make sure that you have scored at least 55 Marks if you belong to the nonreserved categories.
  • Students belonging to the SC/ST categories are eligible for admission with 50% marks in the qualifying exam.

Eligibility Criteria for PhD

  • Students who want to study the Ph.D. in law course under HPNLU need to have completed the LLM or equivalent degree.
  • Students must have at least 55% marks in the Qualifying Examination.

How to Apply for HPNLET 2019

Students who want to appear for the HPNLET 2019 exam must know the right procedure to apply for the HPNLET 2019 exam. Below we have provided some easy yet elaborated steps which students can easily understand and follow to fill the HPNLET 2019 application form.

  1. First, the students will have to visit the official website of HPNLU i.e hpnlu.ac.in and let the page load completely.
  2. After the page is loaded, the students will have to click on the tab that says “Admissions 2019”.
  3. Upon clicking on the above tab, the students will be sent to another page from where they have to click on the “online application form ” link.
  4. Now, the students will be redirected to the Online registration page. Students who have already registered themselves will be able to directly login to their account.
  5. For creating a new account the students will have to give some important details such as the Email address, the password, Name date of birth, gender, country, city, pin code and more.
  6. After filling the above details, check the same and click on “Confirm”
  7. A list of colleges will be available in the application locker and the students have to select the “Himachal Pradesh National Law University”
  8. After you select the university, click on apply to begin filling the application form
  9. Fill the important details in the application form such as the personal details, academic details and then proceed to pay the application fee
  10. Now the students will have to pay the application fee for their selected course. The previous year’s application fee can be found from below.

The application fee for the categories such as General, Kashmiri migrants, Women, wards of Serving, Foreign Nationals, Retired Defence personnel – Rs 3000/-

The application fee for SC/ST and other PWD category candidates – Rs 2500/-

Note: Students must note that the Below Poverty Line (BPL) candidates do not need to submit any application fee.

HPNLET 2019 Exam Pattern

Students must know how their desired exam would be designed. Thus we have the below exam pattern for the LLB, LLM and Ph.D. courses. On the basis of the exam pattern, the students can understand the following details

HPNLET Exam Pattern for LLM courses

The HPNLET LLM Exam Patten is slightly different. A total of 120 MCQ type questions will be asked for 1 mark each whereas an essay question will also be asked in the examination carrying 30 marks. Hence, the total marks for the LLM exam will remain 150. The rest of the pattern will remain the same just like LLB.

HPNLET Exam Pattern for PhD

  • The Ph.D. exam will be conducted in two sections namely the Paper 1 and Paper 2. Paper 1 will contain 50 questions whereas paper 2 will be an essay type question.
  • Paper 1 – Legal Research and Methodology – 100
  • Paper – 2 (Essay Type Question) – 50

Marking Scheme for undergraduate LLB courses

  1. English Comprehensive – 30 Marks
  2. Legal Awareness & Reasoning – 30 Marks
  3. General Awareness -30 Marks
  4. Quantitative Aptitude – 30 Marks
  5. Total Marks – 150 Marks

Marking Scheme for LLM courses: A total of 120 Mark MCQ will be divided among the following categories.

One essay Question will be asked on the contemporary Legal Problems for 30 marks.

HPNLET 2019 Admit Card
